便利過ぎるvim + マウスをscreenで使う

まちゅ氏が「screen経由ではvimのマウス機能が使えない」と言っていたので、色々方法を調べてみたところ、簡単な方法が見つかったので紹介する。単に~/.vimrcに次の1行を追加するだけ。これだけで、screenが立ち上がっている時でもvimのマウス機能がフルに使えるようになる(*)。
set ttymouse=xterm2
ただしscreenのバージョンが4.00.02（2003年の中〜後半ごろリリースしたようだ）未満だとうまく動かない。仮想端末ソフト自体がマウスイベントをハンドルしない場合も同様だ。
なお.screenrcやsetenvなどで環境変数TERMをいじっている場合は上記はうまく動かないかもしれない。要はttymouseをxterm2に設定しさえすればマウスが自由に使えるようになるので、このような場合はvimを立ち上げた後に手動で、:set ttymouse=xterm2としても良い。
「マウスモード有効」も含めた~/.vimrcのサンプルは以下。

おまけ
上記の方法を見つけた手順を一応書いておく。まず、Xterm Control Sequencesを読むと、マウスイベントを拾うには、\e[?1000h（クリックなどのイベントのみ受信）か、\e[?1002h（クリックのほかにドラッグの情報も受信）を端末に投げればいいことが分かる（\e=エスケープ文字）。実際に、screenを立てた状態で?1000hや?1002hを送ってみると、screenでもちゃんとマウスの情報を送信していることが確認できた。

?1000hの場合クリックの時に、?1002hの場合は加えてドラッグ時にエスケープシーケンスが送られているのが確認できる（ここでつまづく場合は、端末(PuTTYかscreen)の設定の問題が考えられる）。であれば、vimがこれをちゃんとハンドリングしていないのが原因だと推測できる。
vimはマウスイベントを拾うのにこのエスケープシーケンスを使っているはずなので、’1002h’でソースコードをgrepした。ソースを追っていくと、ttymouseがxtermの場合?1000h、 xterm2, dec, netterm, jsbterm, ptermのいずれかの場合?1002hを送出するようになっていることが分かった。そこで起動中のvimのttymouseの値を調べてみると、screen経由では空文字列、screen無しではxterm2になっていたので、screen経由の時に:set ttymouse=xterm2とするとうまくいった。
